The Freelance Writers’ Guild of the Philippines (FWGP) is a workers’ association that is registered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). FWGP is also affiliated with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPO-PHL), as well as UNI Global Union.

FWGP champions freelance writers’ causes to help them successfully and legally do their work for local and international clients. Such causes include the following: 

• Fair, decent, and timely remuneration
• Mutually beneficial contracts
• Social protection (mandatory benefits and government assistance)
• Ease in doing business (registration, taxation, and benefits)
• Safe and healthy working conditions
• Non-discrimination, press freedom, cybercrime, and libel
